Judy H.,
We use these guidelines, also. My reference is "Clinical Aspects of
Lactation" by Marianne Neiffert, MD in the June 1999 Clinics of Perinatology.

My question is while I have heard the # of days old/# of wet diapers
guideline discussed, I am unable to find it printed anywhere. Kittie
Franz does use it in her video, " The First Week." All the sources I
have discuss what to look for after 5 days. With discharge on day 2,
this does leave many new moms without info about how things should be
going until day 5. Anyone know where this guideline came from or where
I can find it in print? >>

Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.
