This baby does sound like he would meet criteria for getting donor milk, the
harder questions are:
does milk bank have enough milk - they prioritize on basis of need
can family afford to pay or will insurance cover it
will doctor write the order for it
I would suggest working hard on the relactating [good, freqt pumping, herbs,
metoclopramide or domperidone, and if baby will latch, use sns]. Often even
partial bf will greatly help improve the baby's health, if mother cannot
bring back full supply. Also coupled with her own milk, maybe they can get a
small amt of donor milk which would add to the total br. milk the child
receives. Good luck to this family.
