Since physical therapy is a part of typical treatment, I would try a physical
therapist w/ training in cranial-sacral therapy. You can find someone through
the Upledger Institute website. I would venture to guess that muscle spasms
could cause a tightening similar to a clampdown bite? When I have clients
whose babies have tight/hypertonic/clampdown symptoms, I refer them for p/t
of this nature, Network Chiropractic or massage (mostly depending on which
modality the parents are most comforable w/ and which I suspect will be most
effective for that baby). I see much better and faster improvement when
parents ate willing to use these practitioners. In all cases, I am very picky
about who specifically I will refer to and urge parents to find someone
experiened with breastfeeding babies.
