Dear Friends:
To clarify my last post. I have had questions asked of me as medical
liaison for the local big nursing mothers' organization about SSRIs and
breastfeeding. Sometimes the husband is acting like a jerk, and the nursing
mother is trying to tolerate the situation by taking an SSRI. I have also
encountered this with friends (one in particular) in a nasty relationship
with a less-than-adequate spouse. The women want to take the SSRI to deal
with the intolerable situation, rather than seek counseling or ask the
less-than-adequate spouse to participate fully in the relationship.
Warmly,
Nikki Lee RN, MSN, Mother of 2, IBCLC, CIMI, CSTP
