I must say I am shocked and bewildered by the attitude of some physicians
that will tell mothers that they will not treat them unless they wean their
babies. Especially when they haven't taken the time or trouble to find out
that they are wrong in the "recommendations".

If I had emphysema and continued to smoke despite the recommendations of my
physician, he would *still* have a moral obligation to treat me with the
best he had available, even though he was right in urging me to stop
smoking.

If my cholesterol were out of sight, and I continued to eat bacon and eggs
three times a day, despite the good counsel of my physician, he would still
be morally obliged to treat me, regardless of my disregard of his advice.

But a mother wants to continue to breastfeed, *despite* the wrong advice of
the physician, and he refuses to treat her for a serious condition (Graves'
Disease)? This is worth a complaint to the state licensing board.
