I'd also like to mention that decreased sex drive is a hallmark symptom
of depression. Postpartum depression is probably not recognized a great
deal of the time. It is worth exploring depressive symptoms with any mom
who complains of a low libido. Why? Because, in my experience, it has to
be disruptive in order for a woman to bring it up.In other word, a mild
decrease in libido with a little "doing it for his sake" is usually not
enough to warrent a request for help. I usually ask, "Are there other
things you used to enjoy that you no longer do?" If the answer is
yes.....estrogen won't fix it. Paxil might.
