In answer to 2 questions posed: I tell a mother the length of a feeding
should be as long as it takes a baby to be done, and she should watch
the baby, not the clock. I describe a "done" baby as looking like a
drunken sailor. I want moms to look to their babies and themselves for
as much information as possible. My other reply is to the question
about postpartum support groups. We have a New Mom's class that meets
twice a month. When I facilitated the group I told them it was intended
for moms, not dads, but the new facilitator has said anyone can come and
when we had someone come demo infant massage a few dads did come. I
think that was the only time.
