Someone said << I think there is a difference between DISing formula, or
alternately stating the risks of its use in relation to the physiologic
norm, and DISing formula feeding moms.>> and someone else said to be
sensitive to cultural and social barriers. How true. I can't blame the moms,
because like several posters said even the hcps are pushing formula.
Today this was shared with me in report: a 4+ pound premie on ebm, premie
formula and human milk formula not allowed to bf becoz is a poor nippler (on
bottle), had bloody stools and now on neocate formula even though mom has
lots of milk; a mom told to pump and dump while on keflex for a urinary
tract infection (mom); a 5 pound premie with hyperbilirubinemia (don't know
the level) being managed with bili lite, bf then formula supps.
And on and on ad nauseum. No, I don't feel like going to work tomorrow.
