My mom who is experiencing the problem of stringy milk and blockages has added a piece to the puzzle.  I'm wondering if anyone can comment on the results of her tests:

 Mom's breast sonogram shows normal breasts and ductwork that is dilated properly for a lactating woman. Her
hormone levels are normal, too.

However, her lipase levels are very high.  The nurse practitioner said a normal high level is 60.  Mom's is 104.  So she is sending Mom for an abdominal sonogram to see if her pancreas is okay.  She is looking for it to be folded on itself, or to have a cyst in a duct.  Either of these cases would require surgery (yikes!!).  It could also be simple inflammation.  This can be the case with poorly-treated diabetes or alcoholism, neither of which applies to Mom.  If it is inflammation, Mom is told she will have to go on a low fat (probably extremely low fat) diet.

Does this sound correct or that it contributes to thickened milk, stringy milk, or high-fat milk, etc?
