According to the lecturer at an Epilepsy Association conference I
attended recently, gabapentin has the best safety profile of
anticonvulsants currently available. It is also, unfortunately, less
likely to be effective than some of the more problematic drugs. Keppra
(levetiracetam), newly approved in the US but not yet available in
pharmacies, has had a very good safety profile in clinical trials, but
there is nothing known about it's transfer into human milk.
