I must say, I agree with the father, sort of. I think that babies will do
this, reach for food in the parents' plate and try to eat it, sometime
between 5 and 6 months of age. Why wait if the child is ready? It is not at
all the same as reaching for the keys of the car. For several weeks before
he tries to reach the food, he has been observing the parents eating and
becoming more and more interested.
I believe we must avoid rules as much as possible. What is magical about 6
months? Babies should eat when they are ready. And they are ready when they
try to grab food and put it in their mouths.
