Remember the study that showed more frequent feeding after
birth made the mother's peak nipple tenderness arrive
sooner? The old idea of limiting feeds in the early days
just delayed the soreness until mom was out of the hospital.
What is changing when we feed more often? We are calling
up more prolactin, right? The peak in normal newborn
tenderness coincides with the prolactin flood.
What hormone peaks at ovulation? Prolactin.
I don't know if some women are more sensitive or just
produce more prolactin.
