I definitely encourage it especially for early feeds as it allows
the baby to place the lower jaw well on the breast more readily than
the traditional cradle. I haven't found any problems with it
especially if mom supports baby on a pillow. Another key to making
it work is where baby is placed. If baby's head is too far toward
Mom's armpit on the side where baby will be latching, then the
entire purpose of the hold is defeated. I usually mention that once
baby becomes a pro at nursing and knows how to attach effectively,
most moms can go to the traditional cradle if they prefer.
