I wonder if the "saline" that you get from prescription is for intra-venous
drips? Otherwise, I also can't figure out why it would be expensive. You
can buy saline solution for putting in your eyes and nose over-the-counter,
and it is very cheap. Presumably it is made with sterile water, and is at
physiological strength. I have an Afrin nasal spray which is just saline
(no "drugs") in my closet at home. It was very cheap -- you are basically
paying for the atomizing bottle.
