Dianne:  I believe there was a long thread of discussion a few years back
about the quantity/potency of a particular mother's lactase (the enzyme that
digests lactose) and how rapidly milk takes on that rancid smell.  This
phenomenon has led my dh to use the phrase "only fresh squeezed, please."
Different babies are also more sensitive to the "freshness" of milk.
