Re: << the mom with a nipple/areolar complex
variation that defies latch in spite of all the usual

Jean, glad you liked that phrase.
and yes, "defy" does seem like the operative word. to make sure, i looked it
up: American Heritage Dictionary: Defy: 1.a. To oppose or resist with
boldness and assurance. b. To refuse to submit to or cooperate with. 2. To be
unaffected by; resist or withstand. 3. To challenge or dare (someone) to do
something.
yes, that is the right word.
taking it a step further, i'll offer to coin a term that can be widely
applicable: *"Latch Defying Breast"*.
(appearing in the center ring, see the amazing *"Latch Defying Breast"* !!!)
now, the next time i find myself at the bedside of a new mom who is sporting
a dazzling set of flat/nonprotractile,
dimpled/crevised/invaginated/intussuscepted nipples, with dense/inelastic
areolar tissue at the base, nipples that retract into oblivion on
compression, i may have to bite my lower lip to supress an inappropriate
grin when i think of this new term.
