Laser therapy for cracked nipples is common here in South Africa. It
replaces the ultra-violet light therapy that used to be used before. The
treatment is offered by physiotherapists and is non-drying to nipple
tissue. Of course it needs to be used in conjunction with correcting the
*cause* of the nipple damage. Usually one or two treatments suffice. I
usually see the mothers after they have had the treatment - to correct the
latch - and have never actually referred a mother for this treatment. I
will try and find out more from a physio I work with as well as obtaining
some references.
