Carol Brussel is collecting data on this. Maybe you can check with her or
maybe she will post here. I have been told by one lactation consultant that
she is still producing milk 20 years after weaning her youngest. Another I
know is still able to express milk 2.5 years after weaning her youngest. I
think this is very common.
It is one thing if she is leaking spontaneously, another if she can merely
express.
Even if she did have a pituitary adenoma, this is no big deal usually. A
pituitary adenoma does not grow (usually) and the problem is mainly
infertility. Even then, lots of women become pregnant with one. In my
opinion, a pituitary adenoma may simply be a variation of normal.
Try to reassure this woman.
