A non-Lactnetting midwife has asked me to see if anyone on the list can
help with this. She says:

"I've been contacted (via email) by a pregnant woman (12 weeks), keen to
breastfeed, but *extremely* concerned that she will be unable to do so
because her nipples are very, very sensitive. They have, apparently,
"always" been like this. We're not talking about skin irritation/sensitivity
or other problems - nor a hormonally-induced state that comes and goes - nor
(I don't think) a vaso-constriction problem like Reynard's Syndrome. Her
nipples are simply (in her words) "so sensitive that it is a problem in my
normal life - it is completely impossible for them to be touched without me
reacting with great discomfort".

She has asked various specialists (not specified) about this problem, but
"they either say they have not heard of it or fail to understand the
significance of the problem". She adds that she is considering alternative
therapies, maybe hypnosis or acupuncture - but doesn't know if this is a
good idea. She concludes thus: "my problem is *extremely* serious and I am
*very worried*".

I've checked my usual textbooks and other resource to no avail. I really
don't know how to advise her. Can anybody help?"

TIA
