Carol
I have been in this situation too. Imagine a pt w/ chest pains and wants the
doctor to handle it over the phone. Surely the doctor would say that the pt
MUST BE SEEN TO BE PROPERLY EVALUATED. I just kept trying to help as best I
could, but kept repeating over and over that this was a situation that
needed to be assessed in person. The mom even sent the dad in for a pump and
he spent about 1/2 hr with me trying to solve the bf problem. I think she
even scheduled then cancelled an appt. I kept reiterating the above mantra
that I needed to SEE the couplet and offered other LC/hosp services and of
course LLL. Never did come in. I sent a report to the pedi re what I advised
over the phone and that the family did not/could not come in for visits.
Very frustrating.
