Sue,
I haven't set up any employee pumping rooms, but have used a pumping room at
my work for 3 yrs. Here's what they've had, and what they needed:
Setup: a 12x12 room with two pumping bays. Tables built into the wall with
a chair and a ceiling mounted curtain like ERs have, to close off the bay.
A full-size refrigerator and a column of small lockers. A counter with sink
and soap, and trashcan. A central HR person distributed keys to the room.
Needed: More comfortable chairs, with footstools or wooden bench for the
feet. Corkboard for the women to post notes, pictures, articles. A stack
of magazines - homey, nursing, style - not news. Having a lamp on each desk
would be nice, so the moms could soften the overhead lights if needed. A
list of herbs and other tips for maintaining milk supply. A list of URLs
for nursing working moms, parenting, nursing, etc.
We left notes for each other and arranged a lunch in the office cafeteria,
to match faces with the shoes we'd seen under the curtain.
Shannon
