I am a little behind on Lactnet - what else is new? - so please forgive
me....
When I was nursing my first child, I leaked constantly. It was more than
a laundry problem - it was impossible to leave home without a change of
clothing for myself as well as my son! The way I dealt with it was with
bio-feedback.
When I leaked, I would run the water from the tap. When I stopped
leaking, I turned off the tap. Gradually, I would turn off the tap BEFORE
I stopped leaking, and my body learned to respond to this. Eventually,
all I had to do was THINK of the tap being turned off, and the leaking
would stop.
I also used this technique in reverse - thinking of a tap running when I
wanted to nurse but was too uptight to get a let-down. Over the years, I
have suggested this method to a number of mothers, with good results,
especially those who have been separated from their babies and pumped. It
is low tech, costs nothing, has no side effects, and worth a try.
warmly, Norma, in upstate NY where the sun is shining - YEAHHHHH!
