Bracha,
I had a similar experience, only my daughter was 27 months when my son was
born. Grandma saved the day! She was able to engage my daughter for long
enough periods to give me a break. (My baby boy had trouble latching on.)
The other thing is to let her know this IS temporary and be there to
listen. There will be good days, to give her relief. Can Dad take tot out
for a few hours on the weekend? Breaks can work wonders. It helped me to
feel supported if I decided to wean or not. It might be a good time to
introduce some new interests to the tot, like those wonderful toddler
friendly markers that wash off of everything. A sling helps hide the
nursing infant. Some moms I know can nurse both at once and that really
helps, I'm told. My heart goes out to this mom!
Best of Luck,
Roben Hand
