Lucy, I think it would even be hard to distinguish what exactly constitutes
child-led weaning, especially at very early ages. Some people view prolonged
breast refusal by a 14 month old as a nursing strike and keep offering the
breast until baby takes it again -- in one famous case more than a month
later; others see a nine-month-old who won't nurse for three or four days
with a stuffy nose as finished and goodbye. For a kid that young -- to
some extent, for any age, I guess-- even if the child is "leading" the mother
is still picking up the ball and running with it, or not.
