Dear Lactnet Friends:

I wrote a post and published it and don't see it. Here's what I posted. I
hope it shows up.

"The health of our nation is critical. The health of our nation is the
health of our babies. The generation born in 2000 is will be the first to
have a shorter life span than we in our generation. 25% of our young people
are too fat to be drafted (<http:></http:>

No woman will ever be forced to breastfeed. How dreadful.

Women that are given accurate information, useful support (meaning practical
advice and encouragement), and protected from formula marketing are likely
to choose and to sustain breastfeeding. That is what hospitals should be
doing!

What is happening now is that 80% of women want to breastfeed when they
come to the hospital. This is fabulous! But they don't get what they want.
They get derailed in hospitals where there is no policy, where staff are
ignorant, and where formula (that is full of harmful ingredients like
aluminum and MSG) are given to their babies. That is the problem the CDC
wants to fix.

Relax folks. Health is good for everyone."

warmly,
