I had just finished reading the first post on Lactnet about the Lamaze
comment of knowing not being enough. Haha. So true, so true. Then I am off to the
shower and step on my scale to see yep, I know it, I can even explain it in
detail, but here I am a full 100 lbs above beautiful. I am taking my shower
and thinking how much like obesity breastfeeding really is. And that yes, we
may know it is best and even try it, but in the end something else wins out for
many mothers. Just as for many of us deciding this is the last time we will
quit the life changing diet, but it is just not many mother may think they will
breastfeed until they realize it really is a different way of life. We know
it is a health issue, but that does not mean it is not also a lifestyle
choice---much like choosing to eat a healthy diet means you cannot gorge on
cheesecake. Then, I come to sign off my computer and read the last Lactnet post up
before I take off, and there is Jan's post! Exactly. Perfectly said. Now, if
can just figure out what exactly would help with the obesity issue, we could
use it to help with the breastfeeding issue, and I could finally lose these
100 lbs. Maybe we could interview all those people who seem to manage the
weight loss and to make the complete lifestyle change and find out what worked,
and study it and use it. I think Jan has made the connection very well even if
it was early in the morning.

Take care,
