I have a mom that our office has been working with that I'd appreciate
some thought's as to what is going on. She was seen by one of my
partner's who felt she had a classic case of systemic yeast. She's
been on and off Diflucan because her dr's give her some (one dose, 5
days worth 2 weeks worth) and say she can't have any more. She's on
her 2nd 2 week course. She gets relief from the"shooting" pains with
Diflucan. But she c/o the outside of the nipple/areola area feeling
irritated (a derm has her on a topical corticosteroid for that), and
her breasts feeling "bruised" and "very tender" when they are empty.
She said she has had this feeling all along, but it has become more
noticeable as the shooting pains went away. She also c/o a blanched
nipple when the baby comes off - and this is what made me think of
Raynaud's, but I don't know if the other syptoms go with it, or if they
are related to something else. It's her 4th baby, she also has IBS.
She has been told to "just wean" and this will make all her symptoms go
away, but she said she doesn't want to. I'd really like to help her be
more comfortable. Any insights would be appreciated.
