While we are on the subject of seals, they need really high fat milk for
several reasons:
protection from the cold water
rapid transmission of weight from mom to baby so mom can leave baby for
a week or two to go hunt and replenish her stores, usually to come back
and nurse it off again.  One species of seals only feed for 2 weeks,
during which time mom completely fasts and baby puts on 200 lbs.
