Today I had a Pediatrician come up to me to tell me how he had to advise a
mom to stop breastfeeding. He never bothered calling us to see if we could
do some research, etc. At 15 days of age baby had swollen hands and feet,
severe. Mom and Dad are African American with Sickle Cell Trait. Baby
tested negative. So he took baby off of the breast and put the baby on
Prosobee. Swelling went away. He let mom retry breastfeeding and it
happened again. He told her no more spicey foods, she eats spicey cultural
foods only and he felt this was what was causing the problem. Mom refused to
eat any differently so she stopped breastfeeding. Have any of the gurus out
there in Lactnet Land seen this before?
