In my child's preschool they didn't want me to keep staying through the
morning with my daughter, who was having a lovely time at preschool but
didn't like the separation aspect one bit. Their argument was the same:
the other kids' mothers can't / won't stay, so it wouldn't be fair to the
other children to see Katie's mother staying with her. I always thought
that was an awful argument. Level that playing field...downwards. It
reminds me of mothers who say "well I never nursed my first baby so it
wouldn't be fair to nurse this one". Huh. I want to say "you did the best
you knew how with your first baby, so do the best you know how with this
one too!"
