Hi, all,
There is a useful suggestion for implementing Step 3 (Inform all pregnant women ....), a common sticking point, in the June 1999 MIDIRS Midwifery Digest (MIDIRS Midwifery Digest 1999;9:2:214). It is reprinted from the December 1998 Baby Friendly News.
The idea is an antenatal checklist on breastfeeding information given, with space for staff to sign off and date after a topic has been discussed. The article suggests a "crib list" with individual topics, to jog staff's memories of what information is essential.
This way, particular topics aren't missed and there isn't a doubling up on some other topic.
So, if implementing Step 3 is proving a problem in your workplace, perhaps this idea will be useful.
Cheers,
