I'm late responding to this, but it just came to mind while I was
supervising my toddler out in the yard. As a veteran of fishing things from
my darling girl's mouth, I'm wondering in what world a breastfed baby puts
only *food* in her mouth. As I understand the hygiene hypothesis, it refers
to a child's total environment and considering only food consumption is far
too narrow an interpretation.

regards,
Julia, whose stomach is still churning at the thought of what her daughter
put in her mouth at Grandma's
