Yow--I rarely post twice to LactNet in one day. OK, never. But I do know a
bit about the catalog Cindy the RN was referring to. One thing is that the
catalog was recently sold to a larger catalog company that is not known for
the "alternative" viewpoint that so many people loved about the Natural
Baby Catalog. Many of those folks wonder how much of the info in that
catalog will remain after the changeover is complete. (The current catalog
has a letter from the new owner.)

Another thing is that the copy of the catalog has been used for some time.
I know the plug for the LLLI web site has been in there a while. Much of
the other content of the catalog is based on the former owner's own
experiences with her babies--which has been a few years now. Hospitals,
from what I hear, are rapidly improving in many parts of the US--certainly
I feel good about the information many mothers where I live receive in
hospital. My guess is that she was referring to her own experiences in her
hospital comment.

Anyway, I would be sad to see a negative letter writing campaign started
against this catalog, since I worry that it would mean they simply
discarded the information about how to find a local LLL Leader completely,
which would be a shame, in my extra-biased opinion. Kind words from
dedicated hospital workers might be better, I guess, if one feels compelled
to point out what one feels is the error of their ways.

Note: I hereby declare and admit that I am the webmaster for the LLLI site
advertised in the catalog, and contend that I do think it is a pretty good
one. However, I am not compensated monetarily for this work so all I get
from increased traffic to the site is a warm, fuzzy feeling!
