Libby -

None of the following are quick solutions but a couple of things that I have
found helpful when nothing else works are:

Decreasing the vacuum setting of the pump.

Using sage tincture - tea works but you need so much and it tastes so
nasty...

Monitoring the quantity of milk pumped and, rather than decreasing the time
pumped, stop about 5 - 10-cc less than previously pumped.

While decreasing pumping wear shells to allow the breasts to leak so that
plugs are less likely. I have found the soft shells that Medela sells the
most effective for this. I choose either the sore nipple or inverted nipple
ones based on which allows milk to flow easiest. (I have no financial
interest in Medela other than being a rental depot and there may be a more
effective product - this is just my experience.)

Some moms have found peppermint Altiods somewhat helpful as well.

Good luck and please post what worked for this particular mom.
