Dear all,

After 10+ years, the pediatric group I work with is considering billing the
patients for my services in hospital. I see all the bf moms routinely and
then follow by phone, etc. once they go home. Pete's question: how are other
hospitals, pediatric or OB services billing for routine in hospital lactation
services?

Please respond to me privately -- I need to know:

Are you hospital based, pediatric, or OB based?
Do you routinely see bf moms in the hospital?
If you do, is the practice or the hospital billing the moms for this routine
service?
If billing, what codes do you use? (CPT Codes, not diagnostic codes).
If you are willing to share the information, how much do you bill the client
for a routine hospital visit?

I realize many hospitals only bill the clients for outpatient services, and
inpatient are "gratis" (which is a whole 'nuther discussion), but I'm
interested in finding out how many bill for routine, not complex problem
oriented, lactation visits.

Thanks ever so much,

Jan Barger, RN, MA, IBCLC
