Have been reading with interest the cord treatment thread--am a couple
days behind reading posts.

Recently read a copy of something that came off another list about
serious problems related to generous use of alcohol on skin around cord
resulting in alcohol toxicity (liver problems? can't remember
exactly). Has anyone seen this.

Now to relate this to bf. Co-bathing with a newborn would be taboo as
most practitioners in this area are concerned. Moms are told not to
take a tub bath for at least 2-6 weeks to avoid sitting in "dirty" water
with episiotomy, tears, or C-section scar. Babies are not to be
immersed in water until the cord stump falls off. I know I've heard
this is not evidence-based practice (Does such really exist?!); however,
I was wondering how much of the U.S./world thinks this way.
