Unlike Pat Young, I don't collect nativities, but in most towns and cities
in Norway there is a live nativity scene at some central spot on the main
shopping days during December. This year a cow made a break for it in one
town and caused a mess in traffic though was finally captured, unharmed.
They didn't want a milking cow since it would be impractical when she needed
to be milked twice a day so they used a heifer and some of them are unruly
like this one.
Mary, Joseph, the infant Jesus, and shepherds are portrayed by local
volunteers, and the infant is not left in a manger, but mostly held by his
mother.
I'll have to look at the next nativity I see, about where the infant is
placed!
