Hi Mary,

No, I don't think the mec staining had anything to do with too much fluid in
the baby. Even if the baby was born overhydrated (this concept not yet
proven, IMO), once he "re-calibrated" down to a lower weight, he should
still be consistently gaining weight now.

With all due respect, I stand by my recommendation that appropriate intake
needs to be documented in this case. With that piece of information
documented, the doctor and family can begin to look at why the infant is not
gaining weight. If, in fact, the infant, is underfeeding, then that is a
relatively simple fix, and further testing and speculation as to other
conditions could be avoided. Of course, if he is underfeeding, the reasons
why do need to be explored, also.
