Hello all,

I either had a brilliant idea or I am out to lunch. After having amny phone
calls this week from mothers with probably preventable problems I was
frustrated by our local pediatrician's and hospital staff's lack of awareness
on several issues. One example: baby 2 days old, high bili count:
hspitalized for two days, doctor's orders - no nursing! Mother asked if she
should pump meanwhile - he said no need to! Baby now wants on artifical
nipple, mother feels decreased milk supply.

I would like to have a ready made pamphlet on Bilirubin and Breastfeeding,
with good references and a synopsis of current thinking on the matter. I
would send these off to the doctor and hopital involved (and the mother).
Does such a thing exist? And not for just this - countless other things:
Mastitis and Breastfeeding, Colicky baby and..., To Switch sides or not...,
and on. If these were put out by someone reputable, they could educate these
doctors and nurses. I know that my offering this info retroactively is not
ideal, but I also know that 3 weeks from now I am going to have another woman
in the same situation.

Any info?
