There is a case going to trial here in my community where child
protective services has taken away a child (about 2 yrs old). I don't
have first hand knowledge of the case but two colleagues of mine who are
lactation consultants have been asked to testify because one of the
charges against the mother is that she has harmed her child by continuing
to breastfeed. This mother is also suffering from extreme chemical
sensitivity and the question was raised by one of my colleagues as to
whether anyone has looked at the impact on a bf child if the mom suffers
from this disease. I would think that the child would not be at risk for
this condition as a result of bf but its an interesting question. Can
anyone comment?
