I use Bach Rescue Remedy drops to help a mother establish a let-down
(MER) when she is very uptight.  I think it works pretty well.
It can also be used to induce relaxation.  It's very mild and has no
side effects that I know of.  There is tons of info on homeopathy, Bach
remedies and herbals.  Check your local library, large book shop or the
internet.
