I do not know of a formal policy regarding lactation care and readmitted
mothers. However; when there is a nursing mother admitted who needs
lactation services, her nurse puts in an order for a lactation consult. I have
been called to a variety of departments all over the hospital. We do not limit
lactation care to the maternity center.

I would like to hear what other facilities do to serve these readmitted mothers.
