Dr. Phil, that is.....Now that I've seen the tape-
finally on Monday I got around to it- I have to say a
few things.  I was taped for several hours at home to
get that one minute of snippet shown on the show.  I
stated many times that my real problem was societal,
and I was not surprised to see it edited from the
field tape.

Also, can the rest of you tell that the Ursula wasn't
nursing?  She did a good fake, but neither of us
really wanted to nurse with the camera there.  Those
"exasperated sighs" were due to the relentlessness of
taping, or, while on the hammock, due to the fact that
we had all flipped over on the hammock moments before!
 I found it extremely sad that two posters on the
drphil.com message boards were disturbed by my
"pleasure smile".  And I wonder how many people think
I have 3 breasts in order to "nurse" all three of my
kids at once.

My on air part was, of course, highly edited.  I
corrected the gubernaculum about the AAP
recommendations, that I could say no but was
conflicted by the need to say no, that I had taught
Ursula to nurse as an experiment, that Ursula nurses
*very* infrequently, that I believed long term nursing
is more common than most people think, that we think
little of people using bottles or chewing on pens for
a long time ....  I was onstage for at least 3x as
long as I was shown when it aired.  I said a lot more
and made a lot more sense.

I have to admit that I looked very odd on the show- I
look better in the mirror!  And I looked skeptical,
because I was.
