I am searching for an answer and am hoping that someone out there can help.
Recently I heard of a newborn testing positive for e-coli 157 after passing
several bloody, mucousy stools- no other symptoms. For the first 2 days,
baby had normal stools. Baby aparently was totally breastfed. How could
this baby contact this bacteria? Can it pass through breastmilk?

Is this the one found in under-cooked ground beef? It may be possible that
someone passed it to the baby by contaminated hands after changing another
child's diaper or maybe handling raw beef.
