Here's something else I'll just throw in:
I'm not getting any questions or concerns re foremilk/hindmilk in
Mississippi (the state in the USA with the lowest bf rates). But what I do
observe many times (upon entering a room to check on a dyad) are
moms/dads/family members rocking and shushing baby or using pacifier INSTEAD
OF PUTTING BABY TO BREAST.
So I am not worried about foremilk, hindmilk, or finishing the first breast,
as much as I just want the mothers to Feed the Baby Already!
You have to know how hard I am trying to promote STS (I give pictures of STS
vs holding baby clothed), bf within first hour, unrestricted access, rooming
in, etc. Why shush the baby when you could be feeding?
