milk banks often receive donations from mothers whose sick baby has died. the
mothers find that this is a good way to salvage some small good from a
tragedy, and it helps the mother to deal with the milk supply gradually. the
mother who is pumping can find the gradual weaning from the pump to be a good
parallel to the physical and emotional recovery. (helps define a stage.)
