Dear Tonya,
I am persuaded that we should start teaching everything about bf at
kindergarden level even! We need to educate the population in general
and have bf accepted as THE normal thing to do.
I visited Norway last June and talked to a lot of new parents and
nurses-midwives over there and, let me tell you, they barely see any
alternative to bf! Would you believe! The opposite of what we see in
Canada and the USA, hum?!
I would encourage you to continue believing in bf as the normal thing
for mothers and you will, as a nurse, be an influent person for new
mothers and even for other patients you encounter. This is what we need
in the nursing profession!
