<< I'm thinking
specifically about the babies that lose over 10% of birth weight, but are bf
well and don't look at all dehydrated. So many of these babies even look
puffy when born.... Chris alluded to that in her post about urica acid
crystals and how the babies lose fluid. does that also happen in babies >>
JAN - I just saw a Mom who had to be induced at 38wks and then had C-sect so
must of had IV fluids. She BF right after delivery and baby was 7lbs. 3ozs.
Within 24hrs. baby dropped more thatn 10% (only separated from Mom for 3hrs.)
so they started supplementing in the hospital. Baby quickly showed less
interest at breast and Mom pumped and bottle fed. Now she is BF with a nipple
shield....
Mom thinks they must of misweighed her at birth because has been gaining
steadily since.
