Pamela said she will be speaking to a group and requested some materials to
help combat the Ezzo philosophy. I have Dr. Aney's packet, and I think the
clearest, most useful summary in it is the article by Lactnetter Katie
Allison Granju that appeared in Salon, an online magazine. It says an
online version remains in the Salon archives. The address given is
http://www.salonmagazine.com

Also helpful is a new La Leche League handout by Lactnet's own Lisa
Marasco. It is Publication # 75 (July 1998), "Common Breastfeeding Myths."
It contains 24 myths, corrected by the facts for each, complete with
references (documenting each statement of fact, with an additional 3 pages
at the end.) Also see the Leaven (LLL's Journal for Leaders) article, Vol.
34, no. 2, pp 19-24, April-May 1998 for similar and related material
addressing the Babywise philosophy. I don't know if this is on the LLL web
site, but you could look there to see: www.lalecheleague.org

This would be a quick way to get some of the materials you want.

I stopped in to 2 area bookstores today to see if they carried "Babywise."
It was at Border's, right beside Sears' Baby Book. I talked to the young
clerk who was shelving books in the parenting area, and to the people at
the information desk to alert them of concerns about this program. They
told me the book sells well, and that they cannot "censor" their materials.
They politely wrote down the website address for the Granju article. The
books were not in the stock at Barnes and Noble, I was pleased to learn.
