In her usual, articulate way which ALWAYS stuns me, Diane says,

<< I think it's worth noting that our boys, now 17 and 20, have been a
pleasure
all their lives, including the teen years. There's no doubt in my mind that
all the nursing and body contact and, yes, broken sleep in their younger
years, are largely responsible. They both sleep like the dead now... and I
still waken at night and read, often for a couple hours. Losing my children
from our bed just made my nights lonelier, not more restful. Sigh.
  >>

And I guess I wish that someone would look at all the parents of teens &
older and ask them: "If you had to do it over again, what would you do
differently?"

I for one, would not have been so uptight about following the "rules" with my
first.

I would have breastfed longer.

I would have done more co-sleeping.

I would have been a real attachment parent w/o worrying about whether or not
picking up your baby every time she cries is "manipulative."

I would have said "yes" more often, and "no" far more infrequently.

I would have listened to my heart.
